Goats of Basilwood Farm
Our goats aren’t just part of the farm—they’re part of our family. Each one has a unique personality, from the curious explorers to the gentle snugglers. Raised with love and care, our goats enjoy a life full of sunshine, fresh air, nutritious feed and room to roam. Their milk, rich in vitamins and nutrients, is the most used ingredient in our soaps. We believe happy goats make the best products, and our dedication to their well-being is reflected in every bar of soap we create.
There is a little bit of Basilwood in everything we create here!
Goat Care
Our goats enjoy a carefully balanced diet that includes all the necessary nutrients for great health and well-being. We start with high-quality hay, which forms the bulk of their diet, providing essential fiber to maintain their digestive health. In addition to hay and free-range pasture, we supplement their meals with a blend of grains that are rich in carbohydrates and proteins, giving our goats the energy they need and supporting muscle development.
As natural browsers, our goats enjoy the prunings and clippings from the many trees and shrubs on the farm.
Fresh, clean water is always available to keep them hydrated and healthy. We also provide them with spacious, clean living conditions and plenty of outdoor space to roam, play, and graze. Regular care and attention ensures they remain in excellent health. We monitor each goat closely to address any health issues promptly, so that only the healthiest and freshest milk is used in our products.
Why Do We Use Goat Milk in Our Products So Much?
Goat milk is a true treasure trove of benefits, which is why it is featured prominently in our products. Here's why:
Rich in Nutrients
Goat milk is packed with vitamins and minerals that are essential for healthy skin, such as vitamin A, which helps to repair damaged tissue and maintain healthy skin cells, and selenium, an important mineral known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Gentle and Moisturizing
The fat molecules in goat milk are smaller than those in cow milk, making it easier for our skin to absorb. This leads to better hydration and a softer, smoother texture without feeling greasy.
Naturally Exfoliating
Goat milk contains lactic acid, a natural exfoliant that helps to remove dead skin cells and promote the growth of new, healthy skin. This gentle exfoliation process leaves your skin looking brighter and more radiant.
Hypoallergenic
Due to its unique protein structure, goat milk is often less allergenic than other dairy products, making it a great choice for people with sensitive skin or those prone to allergies.
